The Islamia University of Bahawalpur
In the wake of fundamental improvements being introduced in the system of Higher Education in Pakistan, the credit, respect, recognition of research and scholarly publications, career development and financial gains are now linked with such original works accomplished without replicating the efforts of other researchers. It has therefore become necessary that the menace of plagiarism is highlighted and curbed through exemplary punitive actions. To tackle the plagiarism issue, the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan provided the Universities an online service Turnitin to check plagiarism.
Turnitin is a commercial, Internet-based plagiarism-detection service. Universities typically buy licenses to use the software-as-a-service website, which checks submitted documents against its database and the content of other websites with the aim of identifying plagiarism. Results can identify similarities with existing sources, and can also be used in formative assessment to help students learn to avoid plagiarism and improve their writing. Students may be required to submit work to Turnitin as a requirement of taking a certain course or class.
Turnitin is also available for the Faculty and researchers of The Islamia University of Bahawalpur from the start of its operation in Pakistan through HEC.
Faculty and Staff of The Islamia University Bahawalpur can get the free Turnitin account by downloading and filling in this form from the below mentioned link and submitting it to IT Help Desk & Services office, located in the basement of Faculty of Science building in Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus.
